Strengthen, Lengthen and Tone

This class incorporates classic Pilates core focus to a Hatha flow series. I share my favorite alignment tips, preps for, and variations of poses. This fun and challenging flow series helps you to develop flexibility, balance and strength.

BIO
During my college days in Minnesota, I worked as a health instructor and weight lifter in one of the local spas. After moving to Todos Santos, 20 years ago, I began my yoga practice, and 10 years ago I began running and have participated in 5k, 10k and half marathons. I sought out yoga, Pilates and fitness masters and studios in BCS, as well as in the US.  After periodically substituting for Marimar’s yoga classes, I took instructor classes and started teaching. I have applied yoga across several sports disciplines and most recently taught yoga for Todos Santos Eco Adventures’ Baja Surf Camp for Women and Los Colibris Casitas.
My style of yoga is Hatha flow with a core and alignment focus. As an equestrian and runner, I appreciate that yoga is an essential part of a cross training program. I’ve seen the benefits of yoga as an aid in all sports by increasing body awareness, proper breathing, flexibility and balance, for example surfers, runners and bikers benefit from all of these elements of yoga. Every discipline strengthens some areas more than others and this causes an over-development of certain muscles that need to be countered. Specifically, surfers tend to have very strong backs and arms, but this repetitive motion shortens the back and shoulder muscles.  Runners tend to have very strong, but tight legs and benefit from upper body and core work in addition to flexibility and balance. At the end of my class I want every student to feel that they’ve done a great workout and are rejuvenated, relaxed and ready to master the day!

Dance Lab combines the freedom you feel while you dance alone in your living room, with the joy you feel when you go out dancing with your friends. 

Dance Lab is a unique class combining: meditation, pilates, authentic movement and improvised dance. It is a 90 minute guided meditation into a deeper experience of yourself, enhanced by an inspiring and eclectic playlist (including: Indian, classical, pop, electronic, rock, jazz, African, Latin and more...).

Dance Lab was designed to increase: presence, spontaneity, muscle control, flexibility, strength, creativity & imagination. Dance Lab is a place where you can safely explore your own creative process as it unfolds authentically.  

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Zoë Dearborn is an expressive arts therapist, creativity coach  and teacher, and holds a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology and Expressive Arts Therapy. She designed Dance Lab based on her varied experience as a dancer, actress, arts healer, spiritual seeker & creativity teacher. She is also a performer, writer, designer and artist.

Robert Hall offers weekly dharma talks. His audio recordings are available for listening at https://roberthalldharmatalks.wordpress.com. The talks are first recorded and translated into Spanish by Elena Ascencio Ibanez, and published in both languages. Together Robert, Elena and Alvaro offer weekly dharma classes and talks, and 5-day silent meditation throughout Mexico.  Dr. Hall currently makes his home in Todos Santos, BCS Mexico with Alvaro Colindres, his spouse and personal manager.

BIO

Robert Hall completed his residency in psychiatry in July 1963 and had
an active psychotherapy practice in in Marin County, until November 2001 when he retired and moved to Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, Mexico.

While practicing  psychiatry in the Bay Area,  Dr. Hall earned an international reputation with his innovative and pioneering work in somatic or "body oriented" therapies. In 1970 he co-founded the Lomi School of Somatic Studies, located in Santa Rosa, California. In 1989 the Lomi School developed into the Lomi Counseling Clinic (www.lomi.org), a public agency dedicated to offering low-cost psychotherapy and supervised training for licensing of Marriage and Family Therapy practitioners.

Dr. Hall has also been a teacher of meditation since 1980, and has led meditation retreats since that time.  He is currently on the Teachers Council of Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Woodacre, California, a Buddhist meditation center offering residential silent meditation retreats.

Dr. Hall is also a published poet and performer.  His book of poems, OUT OF NOWHERE, was published by Running Wolf Press in 2000.  He has given public readings of his work, and with musicians he has performed three spoken-word music concerts.  He has released two CD‚s, OUT OF NOWHERE  and WHAT A MYSTERY, in collaboration with musicians, Brian Hand and Teja Bell. In Mexico his dharma talks were transcribed and composed into BUDDHA YA / BUDDHA NOW, which translated into Spanish and by Kate Hart Waters and published in both languages. His subsequent books Everybody Now / Todos Ya, was translated by Elena Ascencio Ibanez, and published in both languages. And his most recent book Asi Es is offered in Spanish. Books are available in the Tecolote Bookstore in Todos Santos.

Marimar has been teaching yoga in Todos Santos for twelve years.  She loves her ongoing teaching practice and the community that surrounds it. Her vision has always been to be able to teach and practice in a beautiful, natural place, where the outer landscape and the inner landscape could be in harmony.  At the same time, she dreamed of offering the space to other teachers and practitioners from near and far so that they could share their gifts, creating a powerful vortex of creative and healing energy.  When the time was right she designed and built Cuatro Vientos, a center for yoga, arts, meditation and movement.  The space was officially opened to the community in January, 2015.  Marimar lives in Todos Santos is also the owner of La Esquina, the café right next door to Cuatro Vientos.

Our goal: a good work out, an injury free experience, a fun sweat and leaving with a smile.

ZUMBA GOLD  introducing easier to follow moves/choreography focusing on balance, range of motion and coordination. Contemporary and Latin/American songs are consistent in all our classes and the heartbeat of our program.

All our choreography can be adapted from low to high intensity, anyone can participation.

Wear clothes to move in, shoes are encourage, water is a must!

BIO

Clara has a strong background teaching yoga for runners and athletes in many disciplines working for more than 10 years for different sports brands (NIKE and ADIDAS). She started her journey with Budhism and meditation in 2009 and later with yoga (Sports City University and Yoga Allianze 200h). Due to her background in sports and all sorts of physical movement (dance, triathlon and CrossFit), she developed for ADIDAS Mexico a 6 years program for runners who were helped to deal with the marathon by yoga in a physical, spiritual and mind arenas.

In this yin and restorative yoga combined class we hold poses for a longer period of time and spend most of our time in seated or laying down poses supported with yoga props. Deep stretches at your own suitable edge can revitalize the tissue of the body and allow us to get deep into the connective tissue and fascia. This combined yoga offers a unique opportunity to cultivate gratitude for the physical body and allows us to slow down. The longer holds offer the chance to sit with our emotions and cultivate balance. It teaches self compassion, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. The practice helps us to tap into the para sympathetic nervous system and can help us become more resilient to stress. Allow yourself to find an appropriate edge, let go, surrender and breathe. Caitlin has been practicing yoga since 2005 and teaching since 2009. She has over 500 hours training in yoga practice and philosophy and over 300 hours study in other relaxation treatments including Thai massage, Wataflow massage, Reiki, Breathwave, Reflexology and Wellness Coaching.

Vinyasa Flow is a movement based yoga practice.  It is a dynamic practice that is always changing.  There is always a flow-like component where we are moving from one posture to the next, like a dance following the breath and in some moments we spend time in a posture to explore either finding more space or opening up to a deeper expression of the posture.  

Vinyasa connects us to the constant changes that are happening both within ourselves and the world around us.

This is a powerful practice that will build strength and stamina, balance and agility, flexibility and alignment, as well as a stronger connection to your true nature.

We use pranayama, mantra, mudras, yoga philosophy and mythology, bio-mechanics, sound vibration and playfulness; to focus the mind, build heat for cleansing, and to bring the physical and energetic body into alignment.

Some yoga experience is recommended, but everyone is welcome.

The Todos Santos Al-anon Family Group meets Fridays at 1:30 PM. Donations of your choosing accepted but not required.
Al‑Anon is a mutual support program for people whose lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking. By sharing common experiences and applying the Al-Anon principles, families and friends of alcoholics can bring positive changes to their individual situations, whether or not the alcoholic admits the existence of a drinking problem or seeks help.
BIO
Our al-anon family group began in July of 2016 and has met weekly ever since. We are parents, family, children, spouses and friends of alcoholics who come together to share our experience strength and hope. We began meeting at Cuatro Vientos this year and have truly enjoyed the peace and serenity this beautiful space allows in our group.

Want to deepen your practice? Explore challenging poses in a safe environment? What is a Chakra and what pose stimulates what? Curious about your alignment or sometimes confused in public yoga classes? Having fun turning the world upside down with inversions? Then welcome to Vinyasa yoga workshop!

In this workshop class we start with a 30 min warm up flow to get into the body connecting movement with breath. The flow focuses on poses that we will explore further in the workshop where we break down poses and practice together step by step in a safe way with hands on assists and support when needed. Every class focuses on different postures from basic to more advanced adjusted to suit the attendants levels. This class works great as a one off or as a series. Together we create a safe space to explore and deepen the beautiful practice of yoga. Suitable for all levels. Lets have fun and grow together!
